Hotel app: virtual card holder solution
The perfect solution to accurately determine room occupancy
The primary application is in hotel rooms.
Hospitality is a complex environment, which requires a special approach and attention to:
- exceptional guest experience through usability, comfort and design
- delivering quality service through profitable operational efficiency and integration
The guest room should be simple and "at home". Anything that is too complex or poorly designed can be a source of frustration for customers if they cannot use it easily.
With the virtual card holder product, there is no need for a traditional card holder next to the door to allow the system to detect if someone is in the room, because the logic module is set up properly to allow this to be determined.
Occupancy detection is in the interest of hotel operations, anenergy saving that supports operations.
A lot of the problem for hotels is that room cards left in the card holders at the entrance make it impossible to determine exactly whether someone is in the room. The solution is intelligent occupancy sensors, which use a combination of presence and opening sensors and other parameters to determine whether a room is empty or occupied based on a special algorithm and adjust the lighting and temperature accordingly.
After the door is opened, the system checks whether there is any movement in the room, i.e. whether someone has left or entered, or, in the case of multiple people, whether both have left the room. Occupancy sensors detect thermal movement. In stuffy bathrooms, where human body temperature is almost the same as the ambient temperature, the system is supported by sound detection, which detects that people are in the room by listening to different noises, such as water splashing.
When connected to the door's magnetic sensor, you can get accurate presence information. Our occupancy sensor solution can determine the presence of guests in the room using one or more dedicated presence sensors. It also detects unexpected presence in the room and is able to distinguish between different behaviours.
When the room is occupied, the guest has full control over the room lighting and temperature. The system can also detect presence from other events. When the room is "empty", all lights are turned off (with a normal delay) and the heating/cooling system resets to the desired temperature. When the room is not occupied, all lights go out and the heating/cooling system resets to a comfortable temperature.
You can also set a separate lighting picture for cleaning staff, or limit the functionality of the room card used for cleaning to be used only when the room is empty or after check-out, unless a separate request for this service is made.
By using a virtual cardholder, you can show that your hotel is making outstanding technological advances, while achieving more efficient operations and a better guest experience.
