KNX system
The KNX system complies with the following national and international standards
- CENELEC - EN 50090 is the only European Standard for Home and Building Electronic Systems (HBES) based on KNX
- ISO/IEC 14543-3 is the world's only standard for Home and Building Electronic Systems (HES) based on KNX.
- ANSI/ASHRAE 135 American standard to which the KNX system complies
- CEN 13321-1 - European Standard for Building Automation based on KNX.
- GB/Z 20965 - Chinese Standard for the Control of Dwellings and Buildings, based on the KNX system
Advantages of KNX system
The KNX system complies with the following national and international standards
Thanks to the certification of appliances, KNX guarantees the cooperation and communication between products.
The KNX certification procedure ensures that different applications used by different manufacturers and different appliances communicate with each other. This ensures a high degree of flexibility and expandability of the system. The device compliance is verified by independent laboratories. KNX is the only system that has a global certification system for the supervision of appliances, training centres and even designers.
KNX means high product quality
The KNX association requires a high level of manufacturing and quality control at every stage of the product cycle. All manufacturers must comply with the ISO 9001 standard before they can produce KNX devices. In addition, products must comply with European and international standards for Home and Building Electronic Systems. In case of doubt, the KNX association may either order a retest of the device or require the manufacturer to perform a hardware compliance test.
Successful, vendor-independent Engineering Tool Software ETS®
This software allows you to design, program and debug a KNX system. As the software is manufacturer independent, it is possible to integrate devices from several manufacturers into one system.
KNX can be used to control all applications in homes and buildings
KNX can be used for all possible functions/applications such as lighting, shading control. Heating/cooling and ventilation control, energy management, audio-visual control and many more possibilities. KNX enhances the feeling of comfort and security, but also contributes strongly to energy saving and climate protection.
KNX is adaptable for use in different types of buildings
KNX can be used for new construction as well as for existing buildings. The system can be easily expanded and adapted to new needs (for example when a new tenant moves into a commercial building). It can be installed in single-family houses, but also in large buildings such as hotels, conference centres, hospitals, schools, shopping centres, warehouses, airports, etc.
KNX supports many communication media
Each of these transmission media can be combined with each other.
To create the most suitable system for the task at hand.
- Twisted pair (KNX TP) KNX communicates on a separate bus line, which is a hierarchy of lines and domains.
- IP/Ethernet (KNX IP) Widespread communication medium
- Radio frequency transmission (KNX RF) KNX communicates via radio waves. The devices can be unidirectional or bidirectional
- Power Grid (KNX PL) KNX communicates via power grids.
