Strategic orientations and working groups
The KNX Association's Board of Directors started 2024 with a two-day strategy workshop, during which four working groups were established: Customer Journey, Applications, Regulations and International Operations. These groups defined how to deliver on the NorthStar strategy "Be a champion of Buildings 4.0", helping to optimise energy use in the places where we live and work. The central motto of the strategy is "KNXINSIDE everywhere". The 2025 goals include the development and implementation of a structured roadmap to help simplify the customer journey, modernise the brand and devices, further focus on energy management, review the business model and integrate AI into the development. Our motto for 2025 is "KNX is because WE ARE".
Highlights in 2024

The digital and highly professional online KNX Awards exhibition was organised.
There has also been significant change within the organisation: Mr Kammerl has handed over the position of President to Mr Krieger. In addition, Train the Trainer courses have helped to further train professionals.
During the year, the new KNX S-Mode Multi devices were launched and the first devices with security proxy and segment coupling functions were certified, increasing the security of the system.
Technological developments and challenges
The market introduction of KNX IoT has created new opportunities, while KNX Secure and ETS have met the requirements of the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The development of KNX Data Secure has strengthened data protection, while the integration of weather data has improved energy efficiency.
Marketing and international presence
In 2024, the marketing strategy focused on three key areas: the introduction of sustainable exhibition stands at ISE and Light + Building. They increased their digital presence with the KNX DIALogue online event series. They increased their social media activity and improved communication and coordination with their KNX national groups worldwide.
2025 - Challenges and goals for the future
In the coming year, KNX aims to further simplify the customer experience, with a particular focus on reducing the engineering effort for installations. With the integration of artificial intelligence, the system will help to select and connect devices in an automated way, increasing installation efficiency.
The further development and deployment of KNX IoT technology in the commercial building market is a priority, while KNX Secure will continue to comply with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) to meet security requirements. The increased focus on energy efficiency aims to reduce CO2 emissions from buildings, contributing to a more sustainable future. In addition, with the development of the KNX Information Model (KIM), inter-professional communication will also undergo a significant evolution.
In 2025, KNX will continue to be a dominant player in smart homes and buildings, with a focus on the integration of AI and energy management. The new ETS 6.3 version comes with 27 new features and the first certified KNX IoT devices.
The KNX Association is proud to close the year 2024 and looks forward to the innovations and challenges ahead.
