Hiddenwires survey: KNX maintains its leading position in the fast-growing smart home industry 

In the dynamic and rapidly changing world of smart home technology, KNX continues to stand out as the preferred standard for home and building automation. The latest industry survey conducted by HiddenWires, which compares data from 2021 to 2023, highlights the continued growth and changing preferences of the smart home industry, confirming KNX's dominant position. According to the survey, 63% of industry professionals use KNX-in smart-otthon projects. The 2023HiddenWires survey, which gathered the views of 5,000 professionals, mainly from Europe but with significant participation from other regions, highlights the diverse and global reach of the smart home market.

As in the 2021 survey, KNX has maintained its leading position in both awareness and practical application. The 2023 survey shows a significant increase in the use of KNX, further strengthening its status as an industry standard. KNX continues to be the preferred choice for 63%of integrators and installers, who form the backbone of the industry, emphasizing its reliability and interoperability. KNX is used significantly more frequently than either Wi-Fi (52%) or Bluetooth (30%) in home and building automation, and three times more frequently than technologies from direct competitors.

Lighting remains the top smart home application (71%), followed closely by temperature control (64%) and blinds (52%). This is followed by an increased interest in home energy management, with 50%of smart home projects now including automatic energy management functions. KNX fits perfectly into this changing environment as it offers sustainable technology that provides energy management solutions and smart automation that increases energy efficiency.

Increasing enthusiasm for ocosothonies

The survey shows a remarkable increase in interest in smart homes, Almost half of the respondentssaid that interest has doubled in the last five years. This, combined with the growing interest of homeowners and the use of KNX technology dominated by professionals, foreshadows further expansion of KNX smart homes in the coming years.
