IoT controller - what is it about?
IoT is the literal translation of Internet of Things, which stands for Internet of Things, or networked smart devices. Everyone wants to live in a smart home. Products such as SONOS speakers, Philips Hue lights and Amazon Alexa are already in many homes. But to control these devices, you always need a separate app.
With the Hager IoT controller, customers are able to control these "things" in a unified way with the KNX system.
When you see how many pre-set scenes can be created to control lighting, heating and cooling or even blinds, the world opens up to a truly smart home...
What is IoT?
The Internet of Things (IoT) is an interconnected computing system. It is a unique system of mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people, with unique identifiers and the ability to transmit data over a network without human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
The thing is, on the internet of things, you can be a person with a heart monitor implant. Or an animal with a biochip transponder. A car with built-in sensors that warn the driver when the tyre pressure is low - or any other natural or man-made object that can be assigned an IP address and transmit data over a network.
The IoT has emerged from the convergence of wireless technologies, micro electromechanical systems (MEMS), micro services and the internet. The convergence has helped break down the walls between operating technology (OT) and information technology (IT), enabling analysis of unstructured machine-generated data to drive advances.
The Hager IoT Gateway works with:
Sonos / Philips hue / Amazon echo / Hager tado / Netatmo / IFTTT
